Buy Land Rover & Range Rover Engine Online
Buy Land Rover & Range Rover Engine Online. We stock engines for both. That covers a lot of ground, because Land Rover and Range Rover engines vary a great deal depending on the model and the year. Rather than list one engine here, this is the page to start from if you know you need one and want to see what’s available.
What we’re likely to have. The common ones people ask for are the 200Tdi and 300Tdi, the Td5, and the TDCi diesels. On the petrol side, the Rover V8 in its various sizes, and the earlier four cylinder engines from the Series era. Range Rover adds the BMW derived diesels from the L322 years and the later units in the L405. Stock changes, so ask what’s in at the moment.
Why people buy a complete engine. Usually because the original has failed in a way that’s not worth fixing. A snapped timing belt on a 300Tdi bends valves and cracks the head. A Td5 with a cracked head and worn injector seats can cost more to rebuild than to replace. A V8 with a slipped liner is a known problem, and a replacement is often the simpler route. Other times it’s a conversion, putting a 300Tdi into a Series truck or a Td5 into something older. Both are common and both need a complete engine rather than parts.
What matters when you buy. The engine has to suit your vehicle, not just your model. The ECU, the loom, the mounts and the bellhousing all have to line up. A Td5 from a Discovery is not a straight fit into a Defender without work. A 300Tdi from a Range Rover has a different sump and pickup. These details decide whether the job is a weekend or a month.
A few things to check before you buy:
-
Which engine it is. Get the engine number and confirm the version.
-
What it came out of. Model, year and whether it was an automatic or manual.
-
Whether it runs. A running engine you can hear and see is worth more than one on a pallet.
-
Mileage and history. Ask, and ask for proof if there is any.
-
Condition. Check for oil leaks, smoke, and play in the turbo if it has one.
-
What’s included. Turbo, injectors, pump, manifolds, loom, ECU. Ask what’s on it and what’s been stripped off.
-
Whether it’s been rebuilt. If so, by whom and when.
One honest note. If your engine has failed, find out exactly what failed before you buy a replacement. A lot of problems that look terminal are not. A Td5 with oil in the ECU plug needs a harness, not an engine. A 300Tdi that won’t start might need a lift pump. Diagnose first. It’s cheaper.
Also. Buying an engine is a heavy, awkward job. Plan for transport, and plan for two people on the day. An engine on a pallet is not something you move on your own.
